Pushing the LimitNiseko has become a world famous ski resort. The owner of this house, Doctor P of Australia was one of those who had been enjoying skiing with their families every year, and he started to think of having a second house there. The ground was a sloped corner, looking over Mt. Youtei to the southeast. I tried to plan a space design that would invite the view of the majestic mountain into the house. A three- story structure with a reinforced concrete basement and wooden first and second floors was a challenge. Through a trial and error process, having adopted HOP construction method of enhanced rigidity based on the improved timber framework method, combined with the rigid frame construction method – the first new construction method in HOP – I managed to achieve both of the rigidity and openness. With my mind satisfied, then I would like to give the owner happiness and pride.
